James is a native of Oklahoma, graduating with a construction management degree from Oklahoma State University in 1990. He began his professional career working in Texas for Manhattan Construction, a top 50 builder, and he also had a leadership role for Haskell, a top 100 integrated design-build firm.
His experience includes leading multiple business units in addition to President and part owner of National Commercial Builders. Projects under his leadership include several large, high profile, and technically complex projects. He has a broad range of market sector exposure including Healthcare, Senior Living, Higher Education, Laboratory, Aviation, Religious, Office, Parking, Retail, Movie Theater, Family Entertainment, and Multi-Family Housing.
Through his previously owned company, James began working with Thakkar Developers as a service provider, contracted to provide construction management services for a theater and family entertainment center project in Irving, TX. James and Thakkar Developers CEO, Sam Thakkar soon formed a relationship that evolved into conversations for James to join the Thakkar team. The formation of Modern Commercial Builders (MCB) was the culmination of those conversations.
MCB is among several companies included in the Thakkar Family portfolio of businesses. Today, MCB not only serves needs of Thakkar Developers, but also serves building needs for the Dallas-Fort Worth community at large.
